The Freenet Debarcle

Looks like someone made a boo-boo with Freenet releases.
<--break-->
Yesterday, I read that there was fracturing in the Freenet community. I more or less skipped over the bit that says "...can't reach anything on the network..." and remembered looking at Freenet years ago. I figured, since I now have a permanently connected machine, I could give over some resource to Freenet. So, I downloaded and played about.

Unfortunately, I couldn't get it doing anything particularly useful. First of all, it was slooow. Secondly, despite following the doco, I couldn't get it to announce itself (because it grumbled about my manual setting of it's NAT IP). So, I figured I'd try to retrieve something and see how that went. Alas, no joy.

Today, I find out that the fracturing thing was in part due to an article, later ammeded. Shame.
