IBM Thinkpad T40/T41 Power Supplies

Werk bought 18 IBM Thinkpad T41s in January '04, adding them to the two T40s we already had (from the summer). Since then, we've probably had half a dozen power supplies fail in various ways. A couple just failed completely, but more recently they've been intermittent. We used to have to go through the mill with IBM support, answering a series of questions, and in some cases sending the old PSU back. Now they don't bother - they just send you a new one with no questions asked. Fairly telling, I think.

Every iteration of the Thinkpad has something wrong. The 600E has battery problems, the T20 had a dodgy keyboard, the T21 had slightly iffy screens. Now the T40s have dodgy PSUs. Still, having used an HP Compaq nx9020 - the Thinkpad is still by far the best laptop you can buy (the nx9020's okay, but just not as nice as the IBMs - it is about half the price though).
