Google's Software Principles

Google have published their 'software principles'. It's all pretty basic stuff, which mostly boils down to keeping the software within the user's expectations (things like random popup ads and discolsure of personal info without authorisation being outside such expectations).

It seems to me that this is all pretty much common sense and decency. I see Corporate America spearheading the subversion of such common sense and decency in the name of a few cheap bucks. The rest of the world might well be saying "well, if they're doing it, so can we", but I'm not sure it's what would happen if left to our own devices.
