New CDs

I was very kindly given some HMV vouchers for christmas. I've just bought:

Goldfrapp

Two lovely albums - both worth a look. I got a little preview of Black Cherry at a friend's house, so bought it and took a chance on Felt Mountain. It's good, although a little wierd at times.

LateNightTales

This is a project a bit like AnotherLateNight? or BackToMine?. You might have guessed they had a "buy one get one free" on a couple of them. The Flaming Lips one was recommended all over the place, and is pretty good. The Nightmares on Wax one was me taking a bit of a chance - it's pretty good too. The Four Tet one was the free one, and it's very weird indeed. Still, for free, it's okay I suppose, although I'm not sure how much I'll be listening to it!

LateNightTales? CDs are in the "dance" section at HMV Oxford Street - not sure that's quite right (given that Goldfrapp is under "rock and pop" ;-). Still, it's pretty chilled out stuff, probably just about right for slapping on when you get home from the pub or something.

Pixies

The Pixies are a band I associate with University - some of my friends were mad on them, although I never really got into them. I'm not sure why, they're actually really good. Doolittle is a nice album, with a few good rocking tracks and a few quieter ones. Definitely worth a listen, I'd say.
