The BBC's got the latest on the proposed UK smoking ban. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm a non-smoker, and dislike coming home smelling of an ash tray, and if the truth be known, would like non-smoking pubs. However, I don't think there should be an outright ban because that would be the government overstepping it's juristiction into our lives.
How about having an "air quality" directive instead? Pubs with sufficient ventilation can do what they like, those without have to clean up the air, either by venting or by having smokeless areas or whatever. That way, the anti-smoking brigade are satisfied, but we all still get choices.
