Since the demise of usability at allmusic.com, I've been short of a decent music info web site. The "Listening to..." thing on the right used to link to Wikipedia, which for the most part is pretty good. However, upto11.net looks really good. It's based on P2P music collections (so one wonders about legalities) and has information from Wikipedia, and zillions of links to other artists. Worth a try...
(actually, I've just checked again - I may have been a bit rough on allmusic.com, but it still needs registration for the really good stuff)
