Around 6am
Submitted by coofercat on Fri, 2006-09-29 07:32It was in a sort of mansion, one room had uniformed bodies (or mannequins?) without heads against a wall, seemingly illuminated. In another room there were hung uniforms, with (human?) faces above them, again illuminated, although obscured by a pelmet. The floor was made of sack cloth, and was sort of spongy. Where was the 'rag man'? You know, the effigy made out of clothes and straw? I thought he was back in the first room, but he's not. What's going on here?
After that, I was a bit scared to go back to sleep!
Verbal
Submitted by coofercat on Thu, 2006-09-28 23:04Whoops - a big night out last night meant I only got to work at 3.30pm. I got a 'verbal warning' for it.
So kids, be careful out there ;-)

Techie Wheat from Techie Chaff
Submitted by coofercat on Wed, 2006-09-27 09:10There was a clueless techie warbling on at work the other day, which lead me to this simple test...
See if your own tame techie knows this: The steady state of Unix memory is full. If there's any spare, the system uses it for disk cache, saving it having to read from disk if you access a file a second time. It'll happily throw that cache away if an application needs memory, but the fact remains, the memory will always be full (well, nearly, as the system keeps a little bit of memory free to soak up sudden requests for memory without having to shuffle things around).
There you go - sort your techies into good and clueless in one easy step. Of course, if you're a techie, then you can blag being better than you are now!

Today
Submitted by coofercat on Tue, 2006-09-19 20:39I've had a great day today. I woke up safe in the knowledge I'd managed to beat a friend around a Nike 5K training run for the second time (even though she's actually a far better runner than me, and I only beat her on a technicality both times). She's going to kick my arse come race day, but until then, I'm milking it for all it's worth.
I also went to the dentist and got a clean bill of health, even with some precautionary x-rays. Then of course, a whole afternoon at work talking like a pirate. Oh, it's been fun - aarr!

What do You Think of This?
Submitted by coofercat on Fri, 2006-09-15 21:39What do you think of this picture?
It was taken by a friend of mine, and I can't decide what I think about it. Can you help me out?

The Cat's a EuroMillions Lottery Winner!
Submitted by coofercat on Sun, 2006-09-10 15:49Yes folks, I'm a EuroMillions lottery winner! I'll be purchasing my island in the South Pacific very soon, as I'm now £6.60 richer!
Phew, it's tough being filthy rich. It takes a long time to count all this money, and still find enough time to get out and spend it. Don't worry though, this won't change me - I'll still be here, blogging about stuff as always. I won't forget you (promise!)

Quality Thought (of the week)

"Quality is like a clitorus. It's hard to put your finger on, but when you do, it really gets results!"
Remember, you heard it here on the QT!
