Patriotic Posters

Just before The Cat goes off-air, enjoy some patriotic posters. This is my favourite.

Going to be conking out pretty soon - see you on the other side...

Tube Driver's Holiday Starts

Yep, it's summer in London, which means one thing - hayfever? no. Smog? no. Of course, it's time for a tube strike. Dunno how much support it's got from ordinary folk. Personally, I hope the employers don't back down, start withdrawing offers, and (with weeks of strikes, no doubt) break the goddam union so this stops happening. </rant>

Freedom2Surf vs. Demon

Amazingly, Demon Internet can't transfer you from one house to another. You have to close your account, and then open a new one. That's an opportunity to check out all those other ADSL providers. I did a quick comparison and found that Freedom2Surf can do at least as well as Demon. In fact, they come out higher than Demon on the ADSL guide, and cost ?2.50 less per month (for a sensible package). They've got easy options for faster links too. Sorry Demon - you're out!

Jekyl and Hyde

Just called BT again (just to make sure they really are f*ckwits). Again, sat on hold for a good 10-15 minutes, but got through to someone who not only had a clue, but even asked if she'd done a good job!! The moral of the story seems to be: If BT don't tell you what you want to hear, wait a few minutes and try again.

So the new line is ordered, and should be working by the time I get to the new gaff. I imagine that means the ADSL (and The Cat) will actually fall over at 9am on Thursday. I should be back up on the 13th July. Sorry for the incponvenience.

The Vanishing Cat

The Cat will soon have some downtime. This will start on Monday the 5th July, sometime in the morning, and will persist for a few days (as yet, no specific time). The problem is 80% BT, and 20% Demon. More news as I have it.

Bed and Breakfast Racism

Breakfast table chit chat. I'm amazed people like this still exist.

Selling the Euro-treaty to the People

Oi, Tony, if you want us to go with it, try something interesting. See what Europe has done for us? Excellent. And they said "in 1974 the world was such a bore" - how wrong they were.

Download Tracks from iPod to PC with SharePod

SharePod is very cool indeed. You can download tracks from your iPod to your PC, maintaining filenames (which are configurable). That means you can make a backup of your iPod.

Personally, I find ripping CDs is a bit hit and miss as far as ID3s are concerned (because CDDB info is usually a bit slack). Now, I can rip CDs, listen to them, and over time get the ID3s sorted out (on the iPod) and then transfer the files back to the PC as a backup and for use at home with SlimServer.
