Cat Flu

I've been sleeping off a dose of the flu for the last few days. Flu's not pleasant, but it does mean you can sleep all day, and still sleep well at night (although any other cats in close proximity will probably get upset with constant snorting and coughing noises). Mumma Cat got a bit concerned, and wanted to come over and nurse me back to health, but I'm pretty much there now, so I'll be back to work tomorrow. No more daytime TV for me - probably a good thing, I think mental decline has been setting in.

msnbot's Fatal Flaw!

I've had a very disproportionate number of visits from "msnbot" compared to any other User Agent. After a bit of procrastinating, I've foundout why - Microsoft's new search facility has an obvious and problematic flaw!

The flaw means that until Microsoft fix the "bot" that trawls the web indexing the pages it finds, everyone can cause MSN a few headaches. The flaw doesn't directly affect the actual search service, but it does open the door for incredibly obvious hacks that exploit the database used for search results. You don't even need to do anything "dodgy" to completely spam the indexing 'bot.

Blunkett On ID Cards (again)

If you don't mind the sound of an ID card, read this article at The Register. It's pretty clear about the confusion surrounding ID cards, costs, passports and so on. It even tells you why it's all been put about like that.

Pathetic

Credit CardsCredit CardsThe BBC are reporting 'Phishing' scam targets NatWest. NatWest's reponse? Switch off anything useful in the service. "NatWest - there is another way".

I Love Music - Music Hates Me

In case you haven't seen it, Richard commented on a recent post about the BPI sueing file sharers. Unfortunately, he's one of them - read his story at I Love Music - Music Hates Me. The BPI is evil - it's hard to do, but stay away from BPI record companies.

Anyone else getting sued? Let me know!

Yawn

They say there's only one yawn in the universe and it gets passed from person to person. I'm not so sure - it looks like someone's synthesised one! (Via GCB)

The Tube

If there's one thing that'll get me in a bad mood it's the tube. Despite standing four deep on the platform edge, we're told (every 30 seconds) that "there is a good service operating on the Northern Line". Once on the train, it takes ages - lots of standing around in tunnels. Oh, the Victoria Line is delayed, we're told. If that's a good service, then I don't really want a bad one (although will probably get one, come winter).

Blasphemer!

David Hasselhoff is the Antichrist

Clearly put about by Britney, Busted and Eric Prydz because they don't want The Hass to have a UK Number 1.

Firefox 1.0 Released

As if you need telling, seeing as it got the on the BBC's main page, but Firefox 1.0 has been released (on time!). Nice one, well done to everyone who's contributed to it or it's extensions.

If you're not using Firefox, give it a try. It's safer than IE, and works much better too.
