Stone me! I've done it...

For the home page at least:

(I'll be working on the other pages and their associated templates sometime soon, I hope)
Update: Nearly all done - just a few old bits that don't get rebuilt. I think I'm done.

EU Software Patents Update

They're gradually crawling out of the woodwork. Richard Balfe sent me his response (dated 14th November, but arriving on the 21st). By his own admission, he has no idea what this issue is all about.

Okay: CSS layout nearly there...

Lots more hacking about with the CSS and HTML (now XHTML). I've still got 21 errors in the XHTML, but the CSS files are validating nicely. IE5.5 still does some weird things with the page, but it's good enough for now, Nescape 4.75 is a dead loss, the Web TV is not good at all. Netscape 7 looks fine, although there are a few bits yet to be fixed (that curiously were working earlier...?)

Grr! CSS boxes and layout! It's infuriating!

I had another go at CSS boxes, following "Retooling Slashdot with Web Standards". I found Inknoise's CSS Layout-o-matic. Trouble is, once I actually put it all into action, it doesn't work in many browsers.

Monitoring Lotus Notes (on Linux)

Remotely monitoring a Lotus Notes (R5) server can be a bit of a pain - I've written a couple of scripts to help ease the burden. What's more, they could be used to monitor more than just Lotus Notes.

Some People... Pah!

Freedom of speech is a good thing. If nothing else, it allows us to find out how arrogant some people are ;-)

IBM Thinkpad 600 and T20 Range Laptops

We've had a number of these machines pass through werk. The 600/E/X/N machines all seemed to kill their respective batteries before time. The T20/1 machines all seem to have slightly iffy displays and kill their hard disks.
